Public Lecture: How reserves/reports in the N.L. Offshore are communicated to the public
Public disclosure regarding natural resources is an important part of the Canada-Newfoundland and Labrador Offshore Petroleum Board’s (C-NLOPB’s) mandate when talking about the development of the Canada-Newfoundland and Labrador Offshore Area. Professional engineers and geoscientists of the C-NLOPB provide resource reports and estimates, which include characteristics, geometry, quantity and quality to the public.
As a regulator in the Can-NL offshore area, the C-NLOPB represents the public interest in the stewardship of petroleum resources and strives to provide a stable, efficient and impartial regulatory regime for operators who invest in the development of these resources. The C-NLOPB’s Resource Management Department is tasked with those objectives as well as communication to industry, governments and the public.
In this presentation, C-NLOPB’s Jeff O’Keefe will look at how the C-NLOPB fulfills its mandate and reports this information publicly.
Mr. O’Keefe is the director of resource management and chief conservation officer for the C-NLOPB. He is responsible for the administration of resource management, waste and environmental aspects of the Atlantic Accord Act and regulations in the Canada-Newfoundland and Labrador offshore area.
Speaking of Engineering is hosted by the Faculty of Engineering and Applied Science at Memorial University and the Professional Engineers & Geoscientists Newfoundland & Labrador.
