Grad Student Talks

Join us Thursday February 20th from 7:30pm - 9pm at the MUN Arts and Administration Building (Room A1043) for our fifth year of graduate student mini-lectures!



Three interesting Memorial University students will present their work for us - non-native plant establishment in Newfoundland’s boreal forest, cryptic female choice and hybridization in fish, and how eelgrass ecosystem services vary depending on surrounding environmental conditions.



During this event we will hear from:



Jennifer Sullivan

Jen is a MSc candidate in Carissa Brown's biogeography lab. Jen’s research is focused on the factors that influence the presence of non-native plant species within the boreal forest region on the Avalon Peninsula of the island.



Tyler Lantiegne

Tyler is a MSc candidate in Craig Purchase's Evolutionary Ecology of Fishes lab. Tyler will speak about cryptic female choice and hybridization in fish.



Tanya Prystay

Tanya is a PhD candidate at Marine Institute in the Center of Fisheries Ecosystem Research. Tanya is applying drones and snorkel surveys to explore how eelgrass ecosystem services (e.g., carbon sequestration, fish habitat) vary depending on meadow morphology and surrounding environmental conditions. Tanya is also part of a team working on restoring eelgrass meadows in Placentia Bay.
