Downtown Snow Removal Tues. Jan. 21

Location:
streets: New Gower, Duckworth, Long's Hill, Freshwater
Start Date:
Monday, January 20, 2020 - 7:30pm to Tuesday, January 21, 2020 - 9:00pm

Snow removal is currently taking place in downtown St. John’s, and will continue overnight into the morning hours of Tuesday, Jan. 21. Crews anticipate completing New Gower and Duckworth streets.

These roads are being cleared to provide temporary parking spaces so we can begin snow removal in downtown residential areas; vehicles parked on New Gower or Duckworth should be moved immediately. At this time the City is clearing and removing snow from roads only.

Once the core downtown streets are cleared overnight, during the daytime on Tuesday, Jan. 21 City plows will begin snow removal first on Long's Hill and once complete will move on to Freshwater Road.

To effectively remove snow, parked cars must be moved. Owners of vehicles parked on Long's Hill and Freshwater Road are urged to clean and remove their vehicles during the morning of Tuesday, Jan. 21. These vehicles can temporarily park on the streets that will be cleared overnight: New Gower and Duckworth.

Additional downtown residential streets will be added as snow removal operations progress. This will be communicated through a public advisory on the City website, and the City’s social media feeds.

The City appreciates the support and cooperation of vehicle owners in the downtown during this emergency.
