Memorial Day Events - Road Closures & Parking Restrictions

Motorists and pedestrians are advised of the following Road Closures on Friday, July 1, 2016:

Queen's Road -  9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.
Church Hill - 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.
Duckworth Street (Bates Hill to Prescott Street) - 10:30 a.m. to 11 a.m.
Duckworth Street (Prescott Street to Wood Street) - 10:30 a.m. to 1:15 p.m.
Water Street (Prescott Street to Cochrane Street) - 10:30 a.m. to 1:15 p.m.
Water Street (Prescott Street to Beck's Cove) - 12 noon to 1:30 p.m.

No Parking - Tow Away Zones
Duckworth Street - adjacent to the War Memorial
Water Street (both sides) - Cochrane Street to Queen's Cove
***Streets may close earlier than scheduled if Traffic in the area of the War Memorial becomes congested***

CONFEDERATION HILL
Prince Philip Drive Closed between Allandale Road and Portugal Cove road 1:00pm - 5pm
 
ROOMS EVENT
Bonaventure Ave (Military Road - Mullock Street) 11:00am - 3:00pm
Merrymeeting Road (Parade Street & Bonaventure Ave) 11:00am - 3:00pm
Bonaventure Ave @ Howley Ave 11:00am - 3:00pm
Harvey Road/Military Road traffic to be help as required. Full access to emergency vehicles

Fire Works - Road Closures and No Stopping - Tow Away Zones

For safety reasons, the following streets will be closed from 8 p.m. on July 1 until after the fireworks:
 

  • The Boulevard
  • Lake Avenue
  • Carnell Drive
  • Clancey Drive
  • Lakeview Avenue

Vehicles parked in violation or parked such that they are obstructing traffic will be ticketed and towed. Parking lots on either side of the Quidi Vidi dog park will be closed. Accessible parking is available on a first come, first served basis in the Dominion parking lot. The same streets and parking lots will be closed approximately 8:00 p.m. should the fireworks be postponed to July 2.
 
Quidi Vidi Walking Trail – Partial Closure
The Quidi Vidi dog park and a portion of the walking trail around Quidi Vidi Lake will be closed for fireworks set up on July 1 and will be reopened after the fireworks display is completed.
 
Pet owners - if your pet needs to go outside during the fireworks display, keep them on a leash for their safety.

Motorists should use an alternate route and expect delays.
