The fourth phase of the Water Street Infrastructure Improvement Project from Clift’s-Baird’s Cove to Job’s Cove/Prescott Street is complete a few days ahead of schedule.

As of 1:30 p.m. on Thursday, June 24, two-way traffic will resume on this section of Water Street.

The City would like to thank the public and the business community for their patience during construction.

The final phase of the project is scheduled to start in spring 2022, details are available at engagestjohns.ca.

Location:  Water Street from Clift’s-Baird’s Cove to Job’s Cove/Prescott Street
 
Start Date:  Monday, March 29, 2021 to Tuesday, June 30, 2020
 
Phase four of the construction project to rehabilitate underground infrastructure on Water Street will begin on Monday March 29, 2021 
 
The following traffic restrictions are in effect (see attached map):
Eastbound traffic on Water Street from Ayre’s Cove to Job’s Cove/Prescott Street is converted to one-way only for the duration of the project
Westbound traffic on Water Street is detoured along Harbour Drive from Job’s Cove/Prescott Street to Ayre’s Cove
Clift’s-Baird’s Cove is closed to through traffic
Pedestrian access will be maintained
Parking will be limited in the construction zone from Clift’s-Baird’s Cove to Job’s Cove/Prescott Street
Metrobus stops in the construction area will be temporarily relocated to Harbour Drive 
 
As with any underground construction project there are many variables that can impact the timeline. The contractor is committed to working as quickly as possible to complete phase four by July 1
