Water Main Flow Testing

Location:
Water Street from Waldegrave Street to Prescott Street
Start Date:
Tuesday, October 4, 2016 - 11:30pm to Wednesday, October 5, 2016 - 6:30am

As part of the ongoing investigation work to evaluate trenchless technologies for Water Street infrastructure improvements, water flow tests are required on various hydrants along Water Street from Waldegrave Street to Prescott Street to confirm capacity of the existing water mains.

Work is scheduled to be completed overnight, beginning 11:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 4 and continue until 6:30 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 5.  If further testing is required it will continue Wednesday night at 11:59 p.m. and an update will be provided.  The testing will affect the downtown area primarily along the section of Water Street described above and the immediate vicinity. A limited number of parking meters will be bagged to allow access to hydrants.

Area residents and businesses may experience loss of water, low pressure or discolored water. If you are experiencing discolored water, please run your cold water tap until it clears.

Property owners who have sprinkler systems are advised that alarms signaling "Low Supply Pressure" may activate, depending on the residual pressure in the system at the time of the flow testing.

A representative will be on site during the work to address any concerns that businesses, property owners or residents may have.  Should you have questions or concerns please contact Access St. John’s by calling 311 or 709-754-CITY (2489) or online.
