Application - 1372 Blackhead Road

A Discretionary Use Application has been submitted requesting permission to develop a campground containing 16 yurts, and a mixed-use building which will contain a private dwelling, bed & breakfast, retail store, coffee service, and comfort station at civic number 1372 Blackhead Road.

The yurts (circular framework tents) will be 6 meters in diameter, and typically accommodate four people each. There will be 16 yurts in total, and each will contain its own self-contained chemical toilet and holding tank, as well as its own fresh water holding tank. Both will be serviced daily. Guests will be transported to the yurts via enclosed golf carts. This campground will be located within the Rural (R) Zone where a Private Park is a Discretionary Use.

The mixed use building will be 9.66 meters high, will have a total floor area of approximately 483 m2 and it will be located 37 meters back from the road, at the entrance of the campground. The Bed & Breakfast portion of the building will contain six rooms, which is a permitted use in the Rural Residential (RR) Zone. The eating area for the coffee service is 6.1 m2 and the floor area of the retail store is 74 m2. The hours of operation for the campground, retail store, comfort station and public washrooms are seven days a week, 7 a.m. to 10 p.m., and the coffee bar will operate between the hours of 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. Thirty-two on-site parking spaces are provided.
