Public Hearing - 146-148 Ladysmith Drive

The St. John’s Municipal Council adopted St. John’s Municipal Plan Amendment Number 131, 2014 and the St. John’s Development Regulations Amendment Number 606, 2014 at its regular meeting held on November 17, 2014 and hereby gives notice of its intent to seek registration of the amendments from the Minister of Municipal and Intergovernmental Affairs in accordance with the Urban and Rural Planning Act.

The purpose of St. John’s Municipal Plan Amendment Number 131, 2014 is to redesignate the property located at 146-148 Ladysmith Drive from the Institutional District and the Open Space District to the Residential Medium Density District.

The purpose of St. John’s Development Regulations Amendment Number 606, 2014 is to rezone the property located at 146-148 Ladysmith Drive from the Institutional (INST) Zone and the Open Space (O) Zone to the Apartment Medium Density (A2) Zone.

The amendments are in reference to a rezoning application submitted to the City by 11368 NL Ltd. to accommodate a development by Northern Property REIT of three apartment buildings containing a total of 229 apartment dwelling units.

A Public Hearing is scheduled for Thursday, Dec. 11, 2014, at the Remax Centre-St. John’s Curling Club, 135 Mayor Ave. The Public Hearing will be conducted by an independent Commissioner appointed by Council. Any person wishing to make a submission on the proposed amendments must provide a signed written statement to the Office of the City Clerk by 10 a.m., Tuesday, Dec. 9, 2014, either by mail: P.O. If no written objections to the amendments are received by the deadline noted, the public hearing for these amendments may be cancelled by the City in accordance with the provisions of the Urban and Rural Planning Act.
