Revised - Public Hearing - 150 New Gower Street

The St. John’s Municipal Council adopted St. John’s Municipal Plan Amendment Number 115, 2015 and the St. John’s Development Regulations Amendment Number 576, 2015 at its Regular Meeting held on November 9, 2015 and hereby gives notice of its intent to seek registration of the amendments from the Minister of Municipal and Intergovernmental Affairs in accordance with the Urban and Rural Planning Act.
 
The purpose of St. John’s Municipal Plan Amendment Number 115, 2015 is to re-designate the property located at 150 New Gower Street from the Residential Downtown Land-Use District to the Commercial Downtown Land-Use District.
 
The purpose of St. John’s Development Regulations Amendment Number 576, 2015 is to rezone the property at 150 New Gower Street from the Residential Downtown (RD) Zone to the Commercial Central Office (CCO).
 
The amendments are in reference to a rezoning application submitted to the City of St. John’s by Manga Hotel to allow a hotel development at 150 New Gower Street which will have a building height greater than 12 storeys.

A Public Hearing is scheduled for Tuesday, December 1, 2015, in Foran/Greene Room, fourth floor City Hall. The Public Hearing will be conducted by an independent Commissioner appointed by Council. Any person wishing to make a submission on the proposed amendments must provide a signed written statement to the Office of the City Clerk by 9 a.m., Monday, November 30, 2015, either by mail: P.O. If no written objections to the amendments are received by the deadline noted, the public hearing for these amendments may be cancelled by the City in accordance with the provisions of the Urban and Rural Planning Act.
