Training Exercise - Landfill Fire

A landfill fire training exercise is taking place at the Robin Hood Bay Waste Management Facility, 340 East White Hills Road, between 9:30 a.m. and noon on Friday, Oct. 30.
The exercise is part of a course offered by SWANA Atlantic Canada and the City of St. John's. A small controlled fire will be started in the quarry gravel pit just outside the landfill perimeter which will be put out with dirt, foam, and water. The St. John's Regional Fire Department will be on-site with the necessary equipment and personnel.
Firefighters and waste management staff from across the province are involved in the training, including from the St. John's Regional Fire Department and the Robin Hood Bay Waste Management Facility.
