As a capital city, St. John’s continues to pursue opportunities to build relationships with municipalities throughout Newfoundland and Labrador. In keeping with this, Dennis O’Keefe, Mayor of the City of St. John’s and Jamie Snook, Mayor of the Town of Happy Valley-Goose Bay, today signed a Letter of Intent expressing their commitment to the pursuit of opportunities of mutual interest.

“The signing of the Letter of Intent is the beginning of a mutually beneficial relationship between our City and the Town of Happy Valley-Goose Bay,” said Dennis O’Keefe. “We look forward to collaborating on initiatives to take advantage of opportunities across a range of sectors.”

With St. John’s offering a critical base of research facilities, businesses and expertise related to offshore petroleum development and Happy Valley-Goose Bay offering an abundance of infrastructure, skilled labour force and inexpensive hydroelectric power, there are multiple opportunities on the horizon.

“On behalf of the residents and businesses of Happy Valley-Goose Bay, I am very excited about this new partnership with the City of St. John’s.” said Jamie Snook. “I can see how working together will benefit the local economy and our community as a whole.”

This agreement nurtures a positive working relationship between the two municipalities and demonstrates the commitment of both in strengthening the economy.
