December 06, 2017 - Again this year the City of St. John’s is encouraging residents to recycle cardboard that accompanies holiday shopping and gift giving.
From December 11, 2017 to January 6, 2018 residents are encouraged to put cardboard, bundled or in blue bags, at the curb on their recycling days.

November 30, 2017 - Winter parking regulations vary, depending on where you live in the City of St. John's.
Snow Routes
Throughout the city from Dec. 1 to March 31 parking is prohibited 24 hours a day on streets designated as ‘No Parking Snow Route.’ These streets are marked with signs. Restrictions are in place so ice control and snow clearing equipment can safely service the streets.

November 28, 2017 - City Council has voted to approve supply of the medium-sized bin (240 liters) for automated garbage collection.
The City held extensive public engagement on the implementation of automated garbage collection, including the preferred bin size. Overall, 63 per cent of survey respondents and 58 per cent of attendees at the engagement pop-up events preferred the medium-sized bin.

November 22, 2017 - The 2017 Downtown Christmas Parade, organized by Downtown St. John’s, takes place on Sunday Nov. 26 at noon.
Due to the parade parking restrictions and tow away zones and meter bagging, public parking is restricted beginning 8 a.m. on Sunday, Nov. 26 and continuing until 3 p.m. Meters will be bagged beginning at 3 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 25, however parking at the meters is allowed until 8 a.m. on Sunday, Nov. 26.

November 16, 2017 - Following discussions with utility providers and an assessment of the use of trenchless technology to address the aging water and sewer infrastructure along Water Street, the City of St. John’s is now prepared to move forward with plans for a rehabilitation program, beginning in 2018.

November 14, 2017 - From Monday, Nov. 20 to Friday, Nov. 24 the City of St. John’s is holding a food drive to collect non-perishable food items in support of the Community Food Sharing Association.
To participate, residents are asked to package non-perishable food items and place it outside the home, in locations highly visible from the road, by 8 a.m. on their garbage day. City staff will collect the donations beginning at 8 a.m.
